Police cite six businesses for liquor violations
Six local businesses were given notices of violation after Biddeford police officers conducted an underage liquor compliance check of retail stores Sept. 18.
Of the 19 establishments checked with the help of two criminal justice college students ages 19 and 20, alcohol was purchased at Three D’s Variety, Maine Smoke Shop, Pool Street Market, Paul’s Variety, SS Super Subs and Wal-Mart, police said.
The notices were sent to the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Liquor Licensing and Inspections. Biddeford police conduct compliance checks several times a year through a $7,000 Substance Abuse Prevention grant from the Department of Health and Human Services and through the University of New England.
