Hours extended for Saco voting

Residents of Saco will converge on the Saco Community Center Nov. 3 to vote on local and state issues.
City Clerk Lucette Pellerin said all voting will take place at the community center on Franklin Street instead of at separate locations. Polling hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. for residents in each of the city’s seven wards.
Absentee ballots are now available at city hall. Pellerin said extended hours will allow voters even more time to vote before Election Day. City hall will be open until 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Voters will elect a mayor to serve a two-year term. Incumbent Roland Michaud is challenged by Councilor Ronald Morton.
In Ward 1, incumbent City Councilor Margaret Mills is being challenged by Cynthia Chadwick-Granger and David Precourt. Incumbent Leslie Smith Jr. is running unopposed for the Ward 2 council seat. In Ward 3, Marie Doucette is running unopposed for the seat currently held by Morton.
Jeffrey Christenbury challenges incumbent Sandra Bastille for the Ward 4 council seat. Incumbents Arthur Tardif of Ward 5, Eric Cote of Ward 6 and Marston Lovell are running unopposed.
Warden candidates are George Chase, Ward 2 and Janice Clark, Ward 4. Ward clerk candidates are Edna Leary, Ward 2 and Marjorie Sanborn, Ward 4.
Saco residents will also vote on a bond measure to spend $2.3 million for paving and improvements to public streets. The roads slated to be improved measure more than 20 miles.
