Leo I. McKenna

Leo I. McKenna, 91, of Kennebunk, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at his home.
 He was born June 28, 1918, in Waterford, Prince Edward Island, Canada, to Hudson L. and Margaret McGaughey McKenna.
  He attended elementary and high school there and in 1946 moved to Rumford, where he was employed at Oxford Paper Co. until he retired in 1975.
On Nov. 26, 1949, he married Ada Aylward at St. Athanasius Church in Rumford. They moved to Kennebunk in 1994.
Mr. McKenna was a member of St. Martha’s Church.  He was an avid and successful gardener, played the piano and organ and was an artist who specialized in nature and outdoor themes.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wayne J. McKenna, in 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ada McKenna of Kennebunk; two daughters, Joan Sturtevant of Lyman and Janice Gallant and her husband, Timothy, of Kennebunk; a son, Peter McKenna and his wife, Benita, of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday at St. Martha’s Church in Kennebunk. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Rumford at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. McKenna’s memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 54 Atlantic Place, South Portland, ME 04106.

Florence Labbe

Florence Labbe, 98, of Biddeford, died Tuesday, Nov.  24, 2009, at Seal Rock Health Care in Saco.
  She was born March 21, 1911, in Chambord, Lac St. Jean, Quebec, to Augustin and Lizzie Papillon Tremblay.
 She was educated there and in Vermont, where she moved as a child.
Mrs. Labbe moved to this area in 1931.  On Sept. 16, 1937, she married Arthur Labbe at St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.
 She was employed by Pepperell Manufacturing Co. for 23 years until she retired in 1970.
Mrs. Labbe was a member of St. André’s Church and Truslow Day Care Center. She enjoyed taking bus trips with the senior center, doing crossword puzzles, reading and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 17, 1959; four sisters, Fernande Lambert, Emma Laroche, Carmen Ruel and Rose L’Heureux; and four brothers,  Leo, Paul, Raymond and Victor Tremblay.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Labbe and his wife, Priscilla, of  Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Renald Labbe and his wife, Claire, of Kannapolis, N.C.; a daughter, Rita Howard of Wells; three brothers, Laurier Tremblay of Sanford, Joffre Tremblay of Stanwood,  Wash., and Marcel Tremblay of Acton; and five grandchildren two great grandchildren
many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, at Hope Memorial Chapel.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at Andre’s Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to: Chelsea’s Chance, c/o Saco Valley Credit Union, 312 Main St. Saco, ME 04072.

Aline Dionne

Aline Dionne, 74, of Saco, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born March 2, 1935, in Livermore Falls to Eugene and Nathalie Caron Dube.
She was educated in Biddeford schools and was employed by Lyn-Flex in Saco for 14 years until she retired in 1989.  She also worked at McDonald’s Restaurant in Saco for eight years. She later spent 10 years with People’s Regional Opportunity Program, participating in the Foster Grandparent Program at Fairfield School in Saco.   
She was an avid beano player.
Mrs. Dionne was a parishioner of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Saco.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 24, 2006, and by her brother,  Robert Dube.
Survivors include her son David John Dionne and his wife, Cindy, of Biddeford; her daughter, Nancy Chagnon of Saco; three brothers, Norman, Maurice and Oscar Dube; three sisters, Irene Therrien, Doris Arsenault and Patricia Szfranwicz; her sister-in-law, Glorianne Webber; six grandchildren,  Olivia, Kristi, Cody, David Jr., Kelsey and Gabriella; two great-grandchildren, Darren and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was Monday at Cote Funeral Home, Saco. Burial will at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
 Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

Henri A. Paradis

Henri A. Paradis, 87, of Saco, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough.
He was born Jan. 24, 1922, in Biddeford to Albani and Alice Pelletier Paradis. 
He attended St. Andre’s School and was a 1941 graduate of St. Louis High School.
Mr. Paradis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, after which he attended the Boston School of Mechanical Dentistry. 
On Sept. 10, 1949, he married Rachel B. Allaire at St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.
In the 1950s he was a competitive speed skater, racing throughout the Northeast. He worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 15 years until 1971, when he went to work for the law firm of Gaulin and Kimmel as a paralegal until his retirement in 1980.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Rachel Paradis, on May 19, 2003; by a brother, Robert Paradis, on April 15, 2005, and a sister, Gilberte Paradis, on Jan. 30, 2004.
Survivors include his brother, Leonard Paradis of Sacramento, Calif.; his sister, Yvette Klodinski of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
  Graveside services and burial will be private at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.

Jean Paul Paquette

Jean Paul Paquette, 81, of Biddeford, died on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Greenwood Health Center in Sanford after a long illness.
He was born in St. Honore de Shanley, Quebec, to Alfred and Anna Begin Paquette. He moved to the area as a young man and was educated in Saco schools.
On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Dorothy J. Petit in St. Joseph’s Church in Biddeford.
Mr. Paquette served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked 16 years at the Bates Manufacturing Co. in Saco, 16 years at Allen Box Co. in Kennebunk and last worked 15 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until he retired in 1991. In retirement he worked at Southridge Living Center.
He was a member of Rev. Marc Franck Rosary Hour on WIDE Radio and volunteered at the St. Paul Retreat House in Augusta. He served as Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph’s Church.
Survivors include Dorothy, his wife of 59 years of Biddeford; his son, Danny Paquette and his wife, Carol, of Biddeford; his brother, Raymond Paquette and his wife, Pauline, of Biddeford; three sisters, Laurette Cloutier of Saco, Marie Paule Petit of Biddeford and Jeanne d’Arc Gadbois of Saco; three  grandsons, Keith and his wife, Megan, William and Nicholas; one granddaughter, Christie Connell and her husband, Matt; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hope Memorial Chapel.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
 Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.
Memorial donations in Mr. Paquette’ memory may be made to St. Joseph Church Restoration.
