Anna M. Sevigny
Anna M. Sevigny, 81, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Winterhaven after a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Lewiston, to Ernest and Cora Albert Leprohon. She moved to Biddeford as a child and was educated at St. Mary’s School. The eldest daughter of 15 children, she left Biddeford High School in her first year to care for her brothers and sisters.
As a young woman she worked in the local mills and worked at the Underwood typewriter factory after moving to Hartford, Conn.
On July 17, 1954, she married Royal A.A. Sevigny at St. Mary’s Church in Biddeford. As the mother of an Air Force family, she moved with her family of five children to most of the 48 states and many foreign countries.
Mrs. Sevigny was a member of St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach and was also a volunteer there with the CCD Program that escorted children from school to church for their lessons. She enjoyed reading, watching television, crocheting and visiting with her family.
She was preceded in death by a son, David P. Sevigny, in 1989; her husband of 54 years, Royal Sevigny, in 2008; and by a brother, Edward, in 2003.
Survivors include three daughters, Marge Coreau and her husband, Mark, of Old Orchard Beach, Patty Sevigny and her boyfriend, Butch Drown, of Saco and Paula Gagne and her husband, Jim, of Hollis; one son, Thomas A. Sevigny and his wife, Lucille, of Portland; five brothers, Frank Leprohon of Hartford, Conn., Louis Leprohon of Biddeford, Albert Leprohon of Rochester, N.H., Joseph Leprohon of Old Orchard Beach, John Leprohon of Kennebunkport; eight sisters, Theresa Gagnon of Biddeford, Janet Hoitt of Bryon, Ohio, Priscilla Ledoux of Biddeford, Ernestine Inkel of Biddeford, Rosemary Janson of Saco, Angela Dill of Trona, Calif., Deanna Demerritt of Rochester, N.H., and Donna Nobles of Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Joseph Coreau of Portland, Sarah Coreau of Old Orchard Beach, Jeffrey Sevigny of Windham, Scott Sevigny (U.S. Navy) in Japan, Kristen Sevigny of Old Orchard Beach, Maya Sevigny of Portland, Michael Gagne, Nathan Gagne and Emily Gagne, all of Hollis; two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Anna Coreau of Houlton and Ella Jace Sevigny of Windham; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 23, at St. Margaret’s Church in Old Orchard Beach, with burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.
Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.
Shirley V. Card
Shirley V. Card, 73, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Maine Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born in Connor on Dec. 23, 1935, to Dominick and Yvonne (Safacon) Fournier.
Soon after her birth, the family moved to Old Orchard Beach, where she grew up. She worked at the former Saxe-Glassman Shoe Factory in Saco. It was while working there in 1955 that she met the love of her life, Raymond F. Card Sr., who was working as a traveling mechanic. They were married on Oct. 26, 1957. Mrs. Card then worked as a stitcher in the former Herman Shoe Factory for more than 20 years.
After leaving Herman Shoe, she became a waitress and worked at the former Governor’s Restaurant (formerly Donnaly’s) in Westbrook. She loved to waitress, and it was here that she made many acquaintances among her customers, many of whom would ask for her by name when dining.
Her proudest accomplishment was her family. She kept an immaculate house; her children jokingly revealed that none of them knew how to make a bed – Shirley did it all. She was a talented cook and baker. Sunday dinner with all the family present was her passion and joy. She taught her husband to be an excellent cook, a job which he took over from her when her health began to decline.
Shirley loved to serve her family and friends. She always made sure others were taken care of before herself. It was this determined attitude that allowed her to aggressively battle her illness. When doctors gave her a very short time to live almost five years ago, she proved them wrong. She possessed a quick wit, and had a ready smile for everyone.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Allen Card, in 1991, and a grandson, Shawn Parks in 2008.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Raymond F. Card, Sr., of Scarborough; three sons, Douglas P. Card of Old Orchard Beach, Raymond F. Card, Jr., and his wife, Donna, of Westbrook, Charles W. Card and his wife, Margaret, of Windham; four daughters, Linda Ray Pierce of Lyman, Deborah Ann McGarey and her husband, John, of Wells, Sherry Ann Piper of Raymond and Cindy Lee Ralston of Scarborough; her brother, Joe Fournier of New Britain, Conn.; four sisters, Bernice Taylor of Springfield, Mass., Pearl Binnette and her husband, Norman, of Biddeford, Theresa Krasko and her husband, Robert, of Greenland, N.H., Gloria Hanson of Biddeford; 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Donald A. Greenwood
Donald A. Greenwood, 57, of Old Orchard Beach, died Dec. 21, 2009, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a six-year battle with leukemia.
He was born May 24, 1952, in Biddeford to Lee A. and Therese Paul Boisvert Greenwood. He was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School in the class of 1971.
On June 28, 2002, he married Gail R. Hubbard in Saco.
Mr. Greenwood worked at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Biddeford for a few years. He then worked many years at Wood Structures Inc. in Biddeford and Saco. He later worked three years at Guardian Security in Portland, four years at Coil Winding Co. in Biddeford and last worked seven years with Domestiks Cleaning Services in Saco and retired in August 2009 due to ill health.
He enjoyed walks on the beach, music, old movies and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. He was an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford.
Survivors include his wife of Old Orchard Beach; a son, Keith Charles and his wife, Dawn, of Old Orchard Beach; two daughters, Tammy Charles of Saco and Jennifer Charles of Waterboro; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was Monday at Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford, with entombment in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.

Marcel R. Petrin
Marcel R. Petrin, 54, of Saco, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at his home after a long illness.
He was born Nov.16, 1955, in Kittery to Richard and Therese Letarte Petrin. He was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1973.
Mr. Petrin worked 20 years at Saco Defense Corp. and retired in 1995 due to ill health. He later worked as a limousine driver for Imperial Limo and Illey Limo. He was involved and dedicated countless hours at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Petrin, in 2008 and a nephew, Jim Paul in 2009.
Survivors include his mother, Therese Petrin of Saco; a son, Matthew Petrin of Cape Coral, Fla.; three sisters, Joan Paul and her husband, Phillip, of Biddeford, Claire Poisson and her husband, Jefferey of Biddeford, and Carol Truss and her husband, Ernie, of Saco; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial funeral was Tuesday at Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

Carlton W. Butland
Carlton W. (Bub) Butland, 87, of Hillview Avenue, Saco, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at the Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough with family members at his side.
He was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Kennebunk to Walter and Maude (Hill) Butland.
He attended attended local public schools and Thornton Academy prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was trained as an artillery man and rose to the rank of sergeant, seeing action in the European Theatre and fighting his way up the coast of Italy with his fellow soldiers. Upon returning to the United States, he courted the love of his life, Marielle Cote, and they were married on June 29, 1946. Mr. Butland was mechanically inclined and handy with his hands, which led to his steady employment throughout his life as an oil burner technician. Family members know there wasn’t anything man-made that he couldn’t repair. This ability led to 16 years of employment with Roy and Perreault Oil Co. and many years with the BF Emery Co., from which he retired due to health reasons in 1980.
Following his retirement, he rediscovered the joys of fishing, and liked nothing better than to have a rod in hand, looking for the next bass or striper unlucky enough to mistake his lure for a meal. The annual fishing trip to Kezar Lake with family was the highlight of every summer and something he would look forward to for months.
He was also an avid Red Sox fan and many summer nights were spent watching them, win or lose, on television.
He treasured his family and was immensely proud of all his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marielle, in 1996; two sisters, Dorothy and Evelyn; and his brother, Roger.
Survivors include his six children, Carlton Butland and his wife, Dzintra, of Dayton; Mark Butland of Old Orchard Beach; Stephen Butland and his wife, Debra, of Olathe, Kan., Lisa Golding and her husband, Harley, of North Yarmouth; Laura Paul and her husband, Bradley, of Saco; Christopher Butland and his wife, Janet, of Saco; as well as grandchildren Carlton, Jennifer, Sarah, Kaitlin, Stephen, Cody and Erin.
A funeral service was Wednesday at Cote Funeral Home, with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Antoinette Binette
Antoinette “Tony” Binette, 86, of Biddeford, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a long illness.
She was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Biddeford to Desire and Eva Royer Binette and was educated in Biddeford.
She worked a few years at the Biddeford Box Shop. She was a homemaker and cared for her parents and her brothers until their passing. She enjoyed playing Beano and playing cards. She was a member of St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish.
She was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her sister, Lorraine Eon of Biddeford; her brother, Romeo Binette of Biddeford; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday at St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
