Lecture series features songwriter
The Louis T. Graves Memorial Public Library in Kennebunkport kicks off its 2010 monthly Pasco Lecture Series with songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Harvey Reid, Sunday at 2 p.m.
In 1996, Acoustic Guitar Magazine voted Reid’s album “Steel Drivin’ Man” to its list “10 Essential Folk CD’s of All Time,” which included the likes of Woody Guthrie and Joan Baez. Guitar Player Magazine has called Reid “a giant of the steel strings.”
Reid has just published a 102-page book and 13-song CD called, “The Wreck of the Isidore.” The book and songs recount a tragic shipwreck when all 16 men aboard the Isidore perished along Bald Head Cliffs in Cape Neddick during the winter of 1842. The entire crew – from the 15 year-old cabin boy to the 53-year old cook – hailed from Kennebunk.
