Mariette B. Klimek

    Mariette Boucher Klimek, 81, of Old Orchard Beach, formerly of Lewiston, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, in Simsbury, Conn., with her family at her side.
      She was born April 14, 1928, and was raised by her adoptive mother, Augustine Robichaud. She graduated in 1947 from Stephens High School in Rumford.
    On Sept. 19, 1970, she married Emil Klimek in Seabrook, N.H.
    For most of her professional life she worked in banking as a teller, general ledger bookkeeper and reconciler for banks such as Depositor’s Trust in Maine and the State National Bank of El Paso, Texas.  Prior to retirement, she and her husband worked as resident managers for senior housing complexes in Palmyra, N.Y., and Danbury, Conn.  Mrs. Klimek and her husband retired to Old Orchard Beach in 1992, where she worked part time in the store at Powder Horn campground.
    Mrs. Klimek was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing cards socially and staying in touch with her many friends.
Survivors include her husband; her son, Dr. Edward A. Thibodeau and his wife, Dr. Gail M. Thibodeau, of Simsbury, Conn.; her grandchildren, Bryan J. Thibodeau and his wife, Kate Navarra Thibodeau, of Issaquah, Wash., and Alyson M. Thibodeau, of Tucson, Ariz.
    A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday at St. Margaret Church, Old Orchard Beach. Burial will be in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery, Lewiston.
    In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1834, Merrifield, VA 22116.
Arrangements were by Cathedral Pines Funeral Home, Old Orchard Beach.

Gertrude A. Beaulieu

    Gertrude A. Beaulieu of Saco died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Scarborough.
    She was born in Biddeford to Aramys and Rosalie (Bernier) Thibault.
    She was a member of Notre Dame de Lourdes Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Saco.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo J. Beaulieu; her two sons, Michael and Guy Beaulieu; and by her grandson, Michael.
    Survivors include her granddaughter, Michelle, and three great-grandchildren, Meagan, Jamie and Katlin.
    A private graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
    Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

Betty L. Parks

    Betty Louise (Dixon) Parks, 62, of Biddeford and Bedford, N.H., died unexpectedly of an aortal aneurysm on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.
    She was born June 19, 1947, in Norwich, N.Y., to Thomas and Helen (Davis) Dixon
    Mrs. Parks was a graduate of Norwich High School and attended Cortland (SUNY) until she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Parks, on Oct. 21, 1967.
    Mrs. Parks was an avid and talented tennis player, and was on several United States Tennis Association teams in New Hampshire over the years and often was the club champion at Fortunes Rocks in Biddeford. She and her husband split their time between Biddeford and Bedford, N.H., for the past 27 years.
    She was a committed Christian, a strong supporter of pro-life causes and a crisis pregnancy center counselor for many years. She and her husband were very active in New Life Church in Biddeford.
    She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol (Dixon) Henderson, and her parents.
    Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Thomas M. Parks; a son, Michael Thomas Parks and his wife, Suzanne, of Medfield, Mass.; a daughter, Kathryn Louise (Parks) Dorst and her husband, Dave, of Leesburg, Va.; a brother, Thomas H. Dixon and his wife, Pauline, of Wellesley, Mass.; six grandchildren, Kaitlin and Ryan Parks of Medfield, Mass., and Miles, Wesley, Alayna and Natalie Dorst of Leesburg, Va.; her stepmother, Lee (Barrett-Parks) Dixon of Avon Park, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
    A funeral service was Saturday at New Life Church in Biddeford, with private interment.

Ralph H. Meserve

    Ralph H. Meserve, 100, of Saco, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
    He was born Dec. 16, 1909, in Saco to Benjamin and Josephine Jellerson Meserve. He graduated from Thornton Academy in 1929.
    Mr. Meserve was employed by Central Maine Power for 43 years and retired in 1974.
    He was a former deacon and superintendent of Sunday school at First Parish Congregational Church, where he was a member. He also was a member and past master of Saco Lodge No. 9 and a member of the consistery. Mr. Meserve was a past patron of Annette Chapter OES and a member of Kora Temple Shrine. He was Ward 4 councilman in Saco in 1965, a former president of the Square Dancing Association and a member of York County Campers Association.
    He was an avid hunter, fisherman and accomplished artist. He spent 32 summers at Salmon Point Campground in Bridgton with his family.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Cleaves Meserve, on June 1, 1998, a son Robert in 1946, a daughter Bette Jean Roberge in 1983, his sister Ethel Smith and two sons-in-law, Robie and Philip.
    Survivors include his daughter Nancy Paquette of Saco; five grandchildren, Catherine, David, Thomas, Christopher and Amy; 13 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    A funeral service was Monday at First Parish Congregational Church in Saco, with a graveside service in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco.
    Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

William Sullivan


    William Sullivan, 83, of Alfred, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Kennebunk Nursing Center.
    He was born April 27, 1926, in Malden, Mass., one of 11 children of Francis and Dorothy Sullivan.
    He entered the Navy during World War II and was a “tin can” sailor. He continued his service in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years.
    Mr. Sullivan also worked at Sprague Electric in Sanford for 20 years, revived Boy Scout Troop 345 in Alfred and served as scoutmaster for 20 years.
    He volunteered in Alfred on various committees for many years and started a recycling program.
    Survivors include his wife, Frances Sullivan; their five children, William P. and his wife, Shirley, Suzanne M. and her partner, Sean Cooper, Michelle B. and her husband, Steve Goldsmith, Timothy M. and Kevin B. and his wife, Kristi; his grandchildren, Sarah, Adam, Durc, Curtis, Jacob, Zachary and Kylie; his brother, Robert, and his wife, Lucille; sisters Dorothy Beote and Ruth Murphy; sister-in-law Jeannette Dufour; several nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held at sea in the spring.
    Donations in his memory may be made to Brothers of Notre Dame, P.O. Box 159, Alfred, ME 04002.
