Philip L. Nunan
Philip L. Nunan Sr., 75, of Saco, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 10, 1934, in Biddeford, to Marie Sousa and Clayton Nunan.
He graduated from Thornton Academy in 1954 and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was employed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a metal forger for 30 years. After retiring he worked as a security guard for the Maine Guides games and other events at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.
For many years he paid daily visits to Trull Nursing Home in Biddeford to care for his mother-in-law and other patients there. Mr. Nunan was involved with Saco Little League as his sons grew up and umpired many games. He was an avid sports follower of his grandchildren as well.
He loved the beach and simple things such as taking rides and eating brunch at Lucky Loggers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Nunan.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Janice Keithley Nunan; daughters Sheila Caras and her husband, James, of Saco, Cheryl Bedard and David Lacroix of Old Orchard Beach; sons Philip Nunan Jr., Douglas Nunan and his wife, Myra, of Georgia, David Nunan and his wife, Jane, of Hollis Center and Dennis Nunan and Craig McKenzie of Portland; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and his sister Sheila King and her husband, Joseph, of the Villages, Fla.
A funeral was Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Dennett, Craig & Pate funeral home, Saco.

Martial Dubois
Martial Dubois, 90, of Biddeford died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at St. Andre’s Health Care Facility in Biddeford after a long illness.
He was born May 6, 1919, in Biddeford to Romuald and Celestine Turcotte Dubois and was educated in Biddeford schools.
Mr. Dubois served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On April 19, 1941, he married Gloria Laure Tanguay at St. Andre Church in Biddeford.
He worked for more than 15 years at the Saco-Lowell Shop in Biddeford and 35 years at Logan Painting Co. in Portland. He retired in 1984.
He was a member of St. Andre Church, Biddeford, and the Franco-American Genealogical Society of Maine. He enjoyed reading and his personal computer.
Mr. Dubois was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years of Biddeford; a daughter, Judy Bellerose and her husband, Walter, of Saco; his sister, Rena Huot and her husband, Donald, of Tewksbury, Mass.; two grandchildren, Rodney Bellerose and his wife, Sheila of Biddeford, and Angela Pearson and her husband, Bob, of Medina, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Bellerose, Kaitlyn Bellerose, Cassandra Pearson and Allie Pearson; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral was Saturday at Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.

Grace B. Frechette
Grace B. Frechette, 74, of Saco, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at Seal Rock Health Care Facility.
She was born June 12, 1935, in Biddeford to Conrad and Mathilda Goudreau Janelle.
She attended Biddeford schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph High School in 1953.
On June 6, 1964, she married Roger L. Frechette in St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. He died April 30, 1991.
Mrs. Frechette was a homemaker and worked four years at Webber Hospital, nine years at United Auto Parts and Stuart’s Department Store, all in Biddeford. She last worked for the city of Biddeford at the Biddeford Pool Beach bathhouse and was an election clerk for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and taking rides. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and TOPS 222 of Biddeford.
Survivors include her son, Roger D. Frechette and his wife, Brenna, of Biddeford; three daughters, Rita A. Gervais and her husband, Michael, of Lyman, Ruth G. Frechette and her companion, David LaPrad, of Auburn, Mass., and Renee M. Cormier and her husband, John, of Freeport; six grandchildren, Anna, Justin, Jacob, Daniel, Jillian and Camryn.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday at St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.

Robert W. Cook
Robert W. Cook, 64, of Biddeford, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at his home.
He was born May 15, 1945, in Boston to Walter Eli and Beatrice (Rapoza) Cook, was educated in Rhode Island and came to this area in 1989.
Mr. Cook served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Vietnam War, from 1967 to 1969 with Company B, 7th Engineering Batallion.
On Oct. 17, 1980, he married Christy Michelson in Newport, R.I.
Mr. Cook worked as an engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Conn., and then in Maine as a truck driver for the last 20 years.
He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, golfing, gardening and especially enjoyed time spent with his granddaughter, Corinne.
He was preceded in death by his brother Marshall Cook in 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Christy Cook of Biddeford; two sons: Robert Cook of Massachusetts and Michael J. Ramunno and his wife, Karen, of Biddeford; two daughters, Kimberly Beatrice Cook of Massachusetts and Renee Louise Cook of Biddeford; a granddaughter, Corinne Marie Dorothy Ramunno of Biddeford; two brothers, Walter Cook of Newport, R.I., and Joseph Cook of Boothbay Harbor; and two sisters, Brenda Cook of Canton, Ohio, and Kathleen Faulkner of Stratford, Conn.
A graveside service was Tuesday at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.

Fred M. Allen
Fred M. Allen, 86, of Biddeford, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough following a short illness.
He was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Alma, Ga., to John Henry and Carrie E. (Young) Allen and was educated there. He moved to this area in the late 1940s. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Jan. 28, 1950, he married Anita A. Boisse in Biddeford.
He was employed at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft, Pepperell Mills, Allied Medical Services, Car Quest and for the last five years as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Biddeford. He retired two months ago due to illness.
Mr. Allen was a member of St. Mary Church and the local VFW. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and maintained his own vegetable garden until last year. He spent many happy hours with his dog Princess and took charge as his wife’s caregiver for the last several years.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Russell S. Allen and Donald G. Allen; his brothers, Talmadge, Jud and Buford Allen; and a sister, Cherry Cornelius Parker.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Anita Allen of Biddeford; his daughter, Linda Jean Colello and her husband, Martin, of Westbrook; three brothers, Theman “Kelso” Allen of Saco, Norman Allen and William Allen of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Dothema Powell of Hampton, Fla., and Roxie Jane Taylor of Alma Ga.; and three granddaughters, Desarae Colello, Crystal Robinson and Danielle Allen.
A funeral service was Monday at Hope Memorial Chapel, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.

Marjorie T. Allen
Marjorie Thompson Allen, 92, died from heart disease on Jan. 23, 2010, at a health care facility in Saco.
She was born April 20, 1917, in Biddeford to Herbert W. and Evelyn Dawson Thompson.
She graduated from Biddeford High School in 1934 and from the University of Maine in 1938.
She taught home economics for several years at a high school in northern Maine following her college graduation. Then, after her marriage in 1940, World War II, the births of her three children, and approximately11 years away from the work force, she returned to the Biddeford area to live at Fortunes Rocks and work part-time as a bookkeeper at H. W. Thompson, Inc., the appliance and furniture store owned and operated by her father in Biddeford.
In 1962, she resumed her full-time career as an educator at Biddeford Junior High School, where she specialized in home economics – with a focus on cooking and nutrition – from 1963 until her retirement in 1984. An excellent cook herself, she enjoyed sharing with students her love of preparing delicious and nutritious meals.
In 1996, Mrs. Allen moved from Fortunes Rocks to Kennebunk, where she resided until her last illness. She was an active member of the Senior Center at Lower Village in Kennebunk, and for a number of years was an enthusiastic member of a water aerobics group. Besides cooking, she loved reading and spending time with friends. She also was interested in genealogy and Kennebunk history.
She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Donald P. Allen of Biddeford, who died in 1987, as well as by her brother, Norman Thompson of Kittery, who died in 1990.
Survivors include her sister, Jean Neiley of Kennebunk; three children, Dr. Deborah Thomas and husband, Dr. Gordon Thomas, of Princeton, N.J.; David Allen and his wife, Mary Linberger, of Evanston, Ill.; and Dr. Stephen Allen and his wife, Janice DiBattista, of Noank, Conn.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held April 3 at 11 a.m. in the Laurel Hill Cemetery Chapel in Saco, with the Rev. Mia Dyson officiating.

Lorraine P. Toussaint
Lorraine P. Toussaint, 76, of Saco, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Berlin, N.H., the only child of Elzear and Laurette (Leclerc) Lajoie. She graduated from the former St. Joseph’s Academy, now called Catherine McAuley High School, Portland.
On Feb. 6, 1954, she married Roland A. Toussaint at St. Mary Church, Biddeford.
Mrs. Toussaint worked for more than 25 years with Counseling Services Inc. as a counselor until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Saco, and an alumni member of Catherine McAuley High School. Mrs. Toussaint loved spending time with her family and friends, many times cooking up a gourmet meal. She enjoyed knitting and latch-hook projects and she loved to shop, especially for her family and friends around the holidays.
She is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Roland A. Toussaint Sr. of Saco; two sons, Roland Toussaint Jr. of Saco and Ronald Toussaint and his wife, Maria, of Biddeford; three daughters, Lynn Benavides and her husband, John, of Saco, Linda Bolduc and her husband, David, of Old Orchard Beach, and Sandra Bastille and her husband, James, of Saco; five grandchildren, Arthur, Patricia, Melissa, Derek and Michelle; and one great-grandson, Avery.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Biddeford, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.

Phyllis Malloch
She was born in Trescott on Aug. 4, 1935, to George and Eva Moores.
She worked for many years at Westpoint Stevens in Biddeford as a weaver. She also worked for several years at the Shawmut Inn in Kennebunkport as head of laundry services and other services. Her hobbies included feeding her birds, coloring, and her dog “KK.”
She is survived by four sons, Vernon Malloch Jr. of Lubec, Wendell Malloch and his wife, Laura, of Sanford, Milford Malloch and wife, Nancy, of Kennebunk and Steven Malloch of Denmark; four daughters, Deanna Godwin and husband, Paul, of Raymond, Marjorie Perry and husband, Dana, of Biddeford, Barbara Malloch of Biddeford and Mary Malloch and husband, Steven Marcott, of Old Orchard Beach; three brothers, Philip Moores of Lubec, Milford Moores of Bangor and Leonard Moores of Orono; four sisters, Myrtle Moores of Lubec, Kathleen Moores of Lubec, Bertha Jones of Ellsworth and Maxine Case of Lubec; 21 grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

Mary E. Brady
Mary E. Brady, 77, of Old Orchard Beach, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1932, in Biddeford, to Michael and Ellen (Murphy) Regan and was educated in Biddeford schools. She was a 1950 graduate of Biddeford High School.
On June 29, 1964, she married Paul T. Brady at St. Mary Church.
Mrs. Brady was employed at New England Telephone Co. as a training supervisor for operators. She also worked for the Old Orchard Beach lunch program for more than 25 years.
She was a former member of St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality and a longtime volunteer for the St. Margaret Parish Christmas fair. She enjoyed doing handcrafts, especially making afghans.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emily Brady, in 1998, and two brothers, Matthew and Ernest Regan.
Survivors include her husband, Paul T. Brady of Old Orchard Beach; her daughter, Theresa Tarbox and her husband, John, of Saco; her son, Michael Brady of Biddeford; her grandson, Matthew Brady; her sister, Monica Gagnon of Old Orchard Beach; her brother, Donald Regan of Berlin, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Hope Memorial Chapel. 490 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Biddeford.

Helen A. Murray, of Harwich, Mass., and formerly of Kennebunkport, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Liberty Commons in Chatham, Mass.
She was born in Boston to Robert and Louise McCabe Murray. She graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in Dorchester, Mass. She received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from Boston State College.
She was an elementary school teacher in the Boston Public School System for nine years.
She was a resident of Kennebunkport from 1972 to 2000 and a parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk. She moved to Harwich, Mass., in 2000.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Murray of Augusta and Jeanne Donne of Harwich, Mass.; and 18 nieces and nephews
Visiting hours will be 4 t o 6 p.m. Friday at Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James Streets, Saco. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Parish at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Biddeford.

She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Donald P. Allen of Biddeford, who died in 1987, as well as by her brother, Norman Thompson of Kittery, who died in 1990.
Survivors include her sister, Jean Neiley of Kennebunk; three children, Dr. Deborah Thomas and husband, Dr. Gordon Thomas, of Princeton, N.J.; David Allen and his wife, Mary Linberger, of Evanston, Ill.; and Dr. Stephen Allen and his wife, Janice DiBattista, of Noank, Conn.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held April 3 at 11 a.m. in the Laurel Hill Cemetery Chapel in Saco, with the Rev. Mia Dyson officiating.
Memorial donations may be made in Mrs. Allen’s name to the Senior Center at Lower Village, 175 Port Road, Kennebunk, ME 04043, or to the Brick Store Museum, 117 Main St., Kennebunk, ME 04043.

Lorraine P. Toussaint
Lorraine P. Toussaint, 76, of Saco, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Berlin, N.H., the only child of Elzear and Laurette (Leclerc) Lajoie. She graduated from the former St. Joseph’s Academy, now called Catherine McAuley High School, Portland.
On Feb. 6, 1954, she married Roland A. Toussaint at St. Mary Church, Biddeford.
Mrs. Toussaint worked for more than 25 years with Counseling Services Inc. as a counselor until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Saco, and an alumni member of Catherine McAuley High School. Mrs. Toussaint loved spending time with her family and friends, many times cooking up a gourmet meal. She enjoyed knitting and latch-hook projects and she loved to shop, especially for her family and friends around the holidays.
She is survived by her husband of more than 55 years, Roland A. Toussaint Sr. of Saco; two sons, Roland Toussaint Jr. of Saco and Ronald Toussaint and his wife, Maria, of Biddeford; three daughters, Lynn Benavides and her husband, John, of Saco, Linda Bolduc and her husband, David, of Old Orchard Beach, and Sandra Bastille and her husband, James, of Saco; five grandchildren, Arthur, Patricia, Melissa, Derek and Michelle; and one great-grandson, Avery.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Biddeford, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Biddeford.
Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.
Phyllis Malloch
She was born in Trescott on Aug. 4, 1935, to George and Eva Moores.
She worked for many years at Westpoint Stevens in Biddeford as a weaver. She also worked for several years at the Shawmut Inn in Kennebunkport as head of laundry services and other services. Her hobbies included feeding her birds, coloring, and her dog “KK.”
She is survived by four sons, Vernon Malloch Jr. of Lubec, Wendell Malloch and his wife, Laura, of Sanford, Milford Malloch and wife, Nancy, of Kennebunk and Steven Malloch of Denmark; four daughters, Deanna Godwin and husband, Paul, of Raymond, Marjorie Perry and husband, Dana, of Biddeford, Barbara Malloch of Biddeford and Mary Malloch and husband, Steven Marcott, of Old Orchard Beach; three brothers, Philip Moores of Lubec, Milford Moores of Bangor and Leonard Moores of Orono; four sisters, Myrtle Moores of Lubec, Kathleen Moores of Lubec, Bertha Jones of Ellsworth and Maxine Case of Lubec; 21 grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

Mary E. Brady
Mary E. Brady, 77, of Old Orchard Beach, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1932, in Biddeford, to Michael and Ellen (Murphy) Regan and was educated in Biddeford schools. She was a 1950 graduate of Biddeford High School.
On June 29, 1964, she married Paul T. Brady at St. Mary Church.
Mrs. Brady was employed at New England Telephone Co. as a training supervisor for operators. She also worked for the Old Orchard Beach lunch program for more than 25 years.
She was a former member of St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality and a longtime volunteer for the St. Margaret Parish Christmas fair. She enjoyed doing handcrafts, especially making afghans.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emily Brady, in 1998, and two brothers, Matthew and Ernest Regan.
Survivors include her husband, Paul T. Brady of Old Orchard Beach; her daughter, Theresa Tarbox and her husband, John, of Saco; her son, Michael Brady of Biddeford; her grandson, Matthew Brady; her sister, Monica Gagnon of Old Orchard Beach; her brother, Donald Regan of Berlin, Conn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Hope Memorial Chapel. 490 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Biddeford.

Helen A. Murray
Helen A. Murray, of Harwich, Mass., and formerly of Kennebunkport, died Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Liberty Commons in Chatham, Mass.
She was born in Boston to Robert and Louise McCabe Murray. She graduated from St. Gregory’s High School in Dorchester, Mass. She received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in education from Boston State College.
She was an elementary school teacher in the Boston Public School System for nine years.
She was a resident of Kennebunkport from 1972 to 2000 and a parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk. She moved to Harwich, Mass., in 2000.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara Murray of Augusta and Jeanne Donne of Harwich, Mass.; and 18 nieces and nephews
Visiting hours will be 4 t o 6 p.m. Friday at Cote Funeral Home, corner of Beach and James Streets, Saco. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Spirit Parish at St. Martha Church in Kennebunk. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery in Biddeford.
