Catherine Shoureas
Catherine Shoureas, 80, of Biddeford, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born Nov.10, 1929, in Biddeford to Minas and Foline (Patsanes) Nanos. She was educated in the Biddeford school system.
Mrs. Shoureas was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She always took great pride in her community and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Peter Shoureas, on June 11, 1999.
Survivors include her son, Peter M. Shoureas of Yarmouth; her daughter, Sandra L Shoureas; her brother, Michael Nanos of Biddeford; her sister, Alice Economos of Saco; and one grandson.
Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
Dorothy A. St. Michel
Dorothy Aurelie St. Michel, 82, of Wells and formerly of Biddeford, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Newton Center in Sanford.
She was born July 12, 1927, in Biddeford to Arthur C. and Eva M. Gaudette and graduated from Biddeford High School.
On May 30, 1946, she married Roland St. Michel at St. Andre Church, Biddeford.
She was employed at Lynn Flex Industries and at Fiber Materials Inc. and retired in 1982. She was also a dental assistant for Dr. Roger Verrier of Saco for several years.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 26.
Mrs. St. Michel was an avid reader, especially of romance novels and biographies, and enjoyed listening to music, such as Elvis and Frank Sinatra. She loved her grandchildren and would drop everything to spend time with them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roland, in 1995.
Survivors include her son, Gerry R. St. Michel and his wife, Makenda Jackie, of Hyattsville, Md.; her daughter, Jacqueline E. Sukalas and her husband, Mitchell, of Wells; a sister, Lucille N. Couture and her husband, Richard, of Biddeford; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Eva Lachance
Eva Lachance, 99, a lifelong resident of Biddeford, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Newton Center in Sanford.
She was born March 30, 1911, in Biddeford to Remie and Emma (Soulard) Bolduc and was educated at St. Joseph School in Biddeford.
On December 28, 1931, she married Philemon Lachance at St. Andre Church.
Mrs. Lachance worked at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. for 31 years and retired in 1973.
She was a member of St. Andre Church. A devout Catholic, Mrs. Lachance prayed and attended Mass daily. She loved her family and enjoyed get-togethers for birthdays and Christmas.
For many years, she and her husband visited Sainte Anne de Beaupre and Cap-de-la-Madeleine in Quebec, Canada, to visit many churches and relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband, Philemon Lachance, in 1990 and her three sisters, Alice Perreault Casavant, Aurise Boisse and Claire Cote Gosselin.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita L. Bernier and her husband, Gerard, of Sanford; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and two nephews.

George R. Wiseman II
George R. Wiseman II, 61, of Saco died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at Bay Pines Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Fla., after a long battle with lung cancer.
He was born Sept. 20, 1948, in Princeton to Thomas and Virginia Dana Wiseman.
He attended Princeton schools and then St. Francis College and the University of Southern Maine.
Mr. Wiseman served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
On May 17, 1968, he married Barbara J. Blunt at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco.
He was employed as a ship fitter at Portsmouth Naval shipyard for 25 years and retired May 30, 1996. He also worked as a security guard at Bailey’s Camp Ground.
Mr. Wiseman enjoyed reading, painting, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed tinkering and motorcycles and taking long walks with “the hound,” Paddie.
He was predeceased by his son, Ernie Wiseman, in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wiseman of Saco; two daughters, Wendy Daniels and her fiancé, Joseph Caiazzo of Saco, and Tracy Waldon of Standish; two sons, Thomas Wiseman of Saco and Cheyenne Wiseman Sabbatus of Lincoln; and five grandchildren.

Camille J. Violette
Camille J. Violette, 91, of Biddeford, died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at St. Andre Health Care Center, Biddeford.
He was born April 3, 1919, in Drummond, New Brunswick, Canada, to Levite and Flavie (Albert) Violette.
On Nov. 25, 1943, he married Gloria M. Poulin at St. Augustine Church in Augusta. They relocated to the Biddeford and Saco area in 1948.
Mr. Violette owned the former Cam’s Lunch Stand for nearly 30 years. It was located on the corner of Pine and Elm streets, Biddeford.
Mr. Violette was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and a member of the St. Jean de Baptiste Society. He enjoyed playing cribbage and was a self-proclaimed “beach bum” who liked to go to the beach regularly. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Romeo, Rene, Raoul, Alcide and Brother Maurice Violette, and four sisters, Hilda Plourde, Cecile Parent, Bertha Mockler and Antoinette Moreau.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gloria M. Violette of Biddeford; two daughters, Dorothy Gagne and her husband, Raymond, of Biddeford; Linda Houle and her husband, Richard, of Old Orchard Beach; two brothers, Lionel Violette and his wife, Cecile, of Indiana, and Alexis Violette and his wife, Rita, of Augusta; a sister, Odette Lambert and her husband, John, of Florida; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Richard Lachance
Richard “Dick” Lachance, 63, of Biddeford, died of pancreatic cancer on Friday, April 30, 2010, at Southridge Living Center.
He was born March 24, 1947, in St. George Beauce, Quebec, to Emile and Juliette (Bolduc) Lachance and was educated there. He moved to this area in the late 1960s.
He worked at the mill in Biddeford and later became a journeyman plumber and worked for Pillsbury Plumbing for more than 30 years until his illness in 2009. Mr. Lachance was a member of the Abanaki Club in Lyman, and enjoyed his days working with his horses.
He was predeceased by a son, Ricky, who died in 1976, his parents, and one sister and one brother of Canada.
Survivors include his lifelong companion, Lise Faucher of Biddeford; his son, Ronny Lachance and his wife, Sarah, of Corner, Ala.; his stepdaughter, Chantal Tozier, and her husband, Bob, of Lyman; stepson Steve Faucher and his wife, Jennifer, of Biddeford; five brothers, seven sisters, eight grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Adrienne A. Merola
Adrienne A. (Morin) Merola, 28, of Sanford, died unexpectedly Friday, April 2, 2010.
She was born Sept. 23, 1981, in Biddeford to the late Albert A. and Simone Morin.
She graduated from Massabesic High School in 2000.
At the time of her death she was employed by Pilot’s Choice in Sanford.
She was predeceased by her nephew, Stephen Fish.
Survivors include two sons, Owen and Zachery of Standish; her sisters, Norma Parenteau Morin and her husband, Duane, of Biddeford, and Elaine Woodward and her husband, Bruce, of Lyman; her nephew, Bryan Fish of Biddeford; two nieces, Ashley Fish of Biddeford and Sara Woodward of Lyman; and friends, aunts and uncles.
A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. May 8 at St. Philip Church in Lyman. Following the Mass a gathering will be held at the Woodward home in Lyman.
Ernest Buffum
Ernest “Cliff” Buffum, 85, of Old Orchard Beach died Friday April 30, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center.
He was born March 17, 1925, in Attleboro, Mass., to Ernest C. and Gertrude E. (Polsey) Buffum and was educated there.
Before the war, Mr. Buffum served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. Panamint. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon with one star.
After his return from the war, Mr. Buffum was employed by Pepperell Manufacturing Co. While working there, he met his future wife, Theresa Picher. They were married in 1947 at St. Andre Church in Biddeford and enjoyed 56 years together.
After a move to Springfield, Mass., for a brief period, they returned to Old Orchard Beach and Mr. Buffum began his 33-year employment at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He retired in 1990.
He was a member of St. Margaret Church and the Saco Elks Lodge. He enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening, bowling and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Buffum, on April 1, 2004.
Survivors include his son, Richard Buffum and his wife, Patty Lee, of Biddeford; his daughter, Cathy Buffum and her partner, Lynn, Ouellette of Saco; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtis Atwater of Cherryfield; nieces, nephews and family members.
