Man involved in
stabbing not found
Old Orchard Beach police are looking for the man who stabbed a New Hampshire man Saturday night on East Grand Avenue.
Police were called to the area of East Grand Avenue near Dube Street for a reported stabbing shortly after 8 p.m. The 42-year-old male victim was transported to Maine Medical Center where he underwent surgery, according to police.
The man and his wife told police they were involved in a verbal confrontation with a man and two women. They said they all walked down East Grand Avenue while continuing the exchange when the victim was stabbed three times from behind, according to police.
The suspect fled on foot after a call was placed to police. A search for the suspect by Old Orchard Beach and Scarborough police was unsuccessful.
The suspect is described as a white man, 22 to 25 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black or blue baseball cap, black or blue shorts with gold stripes and a white T-shirt with the words “(Expletive) the New York Yankees” on the front, according to police.

Police seek CVS robbery suspect
Biddeford police continue to investigate a robbery at CVS Pharmacy on Elm Street.
A woman went to the pharmacy area of the store around 1:28 p.m. June 25 and asked for oxycontin. The woman told employees her boyfriend was in the store with a weapon, said Deputy Police Chief JoAnne Fisk.
The woman did not display a weapon and fled on foot after obtaining prescription drugs, Fisk said. The woman is described as around 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 140 to 150 pounds. She was wearing a pink sweatshirt with “Aeropostale” written on it, she said.
The pharmacy also was robbed May 4. Cousins Jessie Lavalle of Wells and Andrew Lavalle of Kennebunk later were charged in connection with that incident.
Anyone with information should call Biddeford police at 282-5127.
Porch collapse investigated
The Biddeford Code Enforcement Office continues to investigate the cause of a porch collapse that injured three firefighters.
The firefighters were injured June 21 while responding to a report of an unconscious person at 35 Bacon St. Five emergency workers responded to the scene and were carrying a patient from an apartment when the porch collapsed, according to Kevin Duross, secretary of the Biddeford Career Firefighters IAFF Local 3107.
Duross said in a prepared statement the firefighters fell 8 to 10 feet to the ground. All were taken to Southern Maine Medical Center for treatment of back injuries. One has a broken back, one has a separated shoulder and back injury and the third firefighter has a back injury, he said.
The firefighters were not identified.
Code Enforcement Director Roby Fecteau said he still is investigating the incident and expects to know the cause by the end of this week.
Cause of machine shop fire unknown
A fire in a Biddeford machine shop caused more than $100,000 in damages Monday afternoon.
Captain Rick Dussault of the Biddeford Fire Department said a call came in at 11:55 a.m. reporting a fire at Solares in the industrial park near the airport. The fire was contained to a filtration system and no one was injured.
The metal shop’s spray booth for chemicals is connected to an intricate duct system and filter collection tower, Dussault said. Firefighters extinguished a fire in the system within 90 minutes. The cost of the damage could be as high as $120,000, he said. There was additional smoke and soot damage in the area immediately surrounding the system, he said.
Dussault said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Saco and Goodwin’s Mills fire departments assisted Biddeford at the scene.
