Carissa Bolduc, founder of the Mill’s YogaGym at North Dam Mill, is pursuing new opportunities with her husband. The studio she and her family created has become The Yoga Co-op at North Dam Mill and has a page on Facebook.
Teachers at the co-op are Lisa Erickson-Harris, Kelly Gill, Mary Lyons, Kerrin Page, Eliza Pierce, Morgan Sanborn and Phyliss Timmerman.
Douglas Hooper of Biddeford has joined Prudential Northeast Properties as a sales professional and recruiter. Hooper will be responsible for serving both customers and clients as well as recruitment responsibilities for the firm’s Westbrook office. He is a Rotarian with Saco Bay Rotary and is involved in numerous volunteer and nonprofits in his spare time.
Sister Sharon Leavitt, Good Shepherd Sisters, has retired from St. André Health Care after five years as pastoral care coordinator and chaplain and 55 years of commitment to service.
Her call to serve was something that she came to recognize early in her life, and she said she always wanted to meet the needs of those in need. Sister Sharon entered the convent of the Good Shepherd Sisters at Bayview in 1954. Her studies led her to Quebec to learn French and she then earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Saint Joseph’s College. Her graduate studies were completed through the University at Orono, and she earned a Certificate of Advanced Studies in reading specialty.
A native of northern Maine, she dedicated herself to the resource of reading education within the public school system in Van Buren, where she taught for more than 33 years and spent five five years as curriculum coordinator to re-introduce French education within the school system. She relocated to be principal of St. Joseph’s School in Biddeford. She also served at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston for nine years prior to accepting her position with St. André Health Care.
Sister Sharon is maintaining much of the historical record of the Good Shepherd Sisters and currently is documenting biographies of her fellow sisters. She will continue to volunteer to provide new employees with the history of the Good Shepherd Sisters and that of St. André Health Care.
Michelle Lavigne has been promoted to assistant vice president of PeoplesChoice Credit Union. Lavigne started her career with PeoplesChoice in 1987 and has held nearly every position with the credit union during her 23-year empolyment. She currently is branch manager of both Biddeford locations.
Heather Savage has been named branch manager of Town & Country Federal Credit Union’s Saco branch. She joined the credit union as a teller in 1997 and has held several positions with the company. She is a graduate of Deering High School and is a Saco resident. Crystal Cormier was appointed assistant branch manager last spring. Prior to joining Town & Country she worked at several financial services organizations. She is a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington and lives in Hollis with her husband and son.
Marc Cardullo of Saco has joined Morgan Realty Inc. of Saco as a full-time associate broker. Cardullo has a background in business development and relationship building, including experience as a senior loan officer and marketing director. He attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham and George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. He is the father of three children, a Master Mason (Saco Lodge No. 9) as well as an avid motorcyclist and runner.
Southern Maine Medical Center’s laboratory was recently awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists based on the results of a recent unannounced, on-site inspection.
During the accreditation process, inspectors examine the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. Inspectors also examine the staff qualifications, laboratory equipment, facilities, safety program and record, as well as overall management of the laboratory. SMMC’s laboratory was noted for the “excellence of the services provided” and is one of the more than 6,000 laboratories nationwide accredited by the organization.
SMMC Visiting Nurses’ Diabetes Education Program has been awarded national accreditation by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. The program was previously accredited by the American Diabetes Association and chose to seek re-accreditation through AADE because of its greater flexibility and alignment with multiple sites the SMMCVN program offers education throughout the community.
Diabetic education programs offered by SMMC Visiting Nurses include instruction on reading labels, planning meals, weight-loss programs, classes, support groups and measuring blood sugar and insulin use.
