A Dayton woman was charged Tuesday with robbing an Old Orchard Beach pharmacy.

Jennifer Nicholas, 30, was charged with robbery for allegedly taking prescription drugs from the Saco Avenue pharmacy at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 30. Store employees said a barefoot woman wearing a dirty white sweatshirt walked up to the counter and demanded pills, police said. The pharmacist gave the women a bag of Percocet pills and she quickly left the building, police said.

Police said Nicholas kept her hand in her pocket as though she had a gun, but no weapon was displayed. No one was injured. The woman was accompanied by a man who was in the store with her but was not directly involved in the robbery, according to police. A police dog was used to track the suspect to a nearby street, where officers believe she got into a waiting car.

Nicholas also was charged with robbery after allegedly demanding prescription drugs from the Hannaford Bros. Supermarket pharmacy in Waterboro on Sunday. In surveillance videos, Nicholas appeared to be wearing the same dirty white sweatshirt.

Also arrested were Richard Tozier and Todd Storm, both of Datyon, on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. Tozier also was charged with drug possession and Storm was charged with eluding a police officer. Robbery is a Class B crime punishable by five to 10 years in jail. The three were arrested at the home they share in Dayton.

Old Orchard Beach Deputy Police Chief Keith Babin said Nicholas’ criminal record includes convictions of operating under the influence and assault. She is being held at York County Jail on $10,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in York District Court on Oct. 6.

Babin said the investigation into the Old Orchard Beach robbery is ongoing and other people may face charges. He said the robbery was the first at the pharmacy and the first robbery of a business in Old Orchard Beach in years.
