Marie F. Cote

 

Marie F. Cote, 78, formerly of Lyman, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, at her daughter’s residence in Xenia, Ohio.

She was born March 3, 1932, in Bromptonville, Canada, one of 12 children born to Wilfrid F. and Mary A. (Babineau) Valcourt.

Mrs. Cote enjoyed knitting, painting and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Leo G. Cote.

Survivors include her daughter: Kimberly Hussey (Glenn); two grandchildren; her sister, Simonne Lessard of Springfield, Mass.; brothers Jean Felix Valcourt of Wilbraham, Mass., Alphonse Valcourt of Biddeford, and Leo Valcourt of Lenoxville, Canada; several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Mary M. Thibeault

 

Mary M. Thibeault, 92, of Saco, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

She was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Old Town to daughter Peter and Elizabeth LeBreton. She was educated in Old Town schools.

Mrs. Thibeault moved to this area in the 1930s. She was employed by Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford for 35 years and retired in 1980.

Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting. She enjoyed watching television, playing cards and word search puzzles. She also liked going to the beach, sitting on her swing and swimming. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great granddaughter.

Mrs. Thibeault was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church, Good Shepherd Parish, in Saco.

She was preceded in death on Nov. 14, 1997 by her husband Martial B. Thibeault and 16 brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one son, Richard P. Neault and his wife, Sylvia, of Waterboro; one daughter, Patricia A. Horrocks and her husband, Everett, of Saco; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

 

David J. Lavoie

 

David J. Lavoie, 56, of Arundel, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born May 18, 1954, in Van Buren to Edmond and Janet (Gagnon) Lavoie. He was educated in Biddeford schools. Mr. Lavoie was a self-employed carpenter most of his life.

He enjoyed being with his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He liked to go hunting and fishing and earlier in his life enjoyed painting and building model cars.

Mr. Lavoie is survived by his wife, Carol Lavoie of Arundel; Arundel; his son David J. Lavoie Jr. and his wife, Christine, of Biddeford; two daughters, Chrystal A. Waterman and her husband, Tom, and Lisa M. Turner and her husband, David, all of Arundel; three brothers, Roger J. Lavoie and his wife, Mary, of Kennebenkport, Donald J. Lavoie and Robert J. Lavoie and his wife, Sue, of Van Buren; two sisters, Gail Daniels and Tina Patnaude, also of Van Buren; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco. 

 

Muriel C. Fontaine

 

Muriel C. Fontaine, 83, of Saco died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

She was born July 10, 1927, in Biddeford to Raymond Jr. and Roseanna Pinette Roy. She was educated at St. Andre School in Biddeford.

She was married to Simeon Fontaine in April 1947. She was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her family and also worked for York Manor in Biddeford for nine years.  Mrs. Fontaine was an avid reader and also liked to travel. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Fontaine was a parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Good Shepherd Parish, in Saco.

Survivors include her husband, Simeon, of Saco; one son, Steven Fontaine of Saco; two daughters,  Susan Cote and her husband, Raymond, of Biddeford and Janice Coulthard and her husband, Charles, of Old Orchard Beach; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

 

Richard D. Henaire

 

Richard D. Henaire, 63, of Biddeford died unexpectedly of cardiopulmonary arrest on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born April 18, 1947, in Biddeford to Joseph O. and Gertrude T. Labarre Henaire. He was educated in Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School.

Mr. Henaire served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On Aug. 17, 1969, he married Marie E. Esposito at St. Thomas Aquinas Church (Flatlands) in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He worked 35 years in the flooring business, most recently with Paul G. White Commercial Flooring in Stratham, N.H. He lived for his family and adored and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Marie, of Biddeford; one daughter, Dina Henaire DeVoe and her husband, Matthew, of Gorham; one son, Joseph R. Henaire and his wife, Jennifer, of Biddeford; one sister, Donna Guignard of Biddeford; one brother, Roland Henaire of Old Orchard Beach; three grandchildren, one niece and two nephews.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Diane Lee Lerned

 

Diane Lee Lerned, 69, of Saco and formerly of Salem, N.H., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Southern Maine Medical Center following a brief illness.

She was born Nov. 9, 1941, in Lawrence, Mass., to Everett P. and Muriel (Rollins) Merrow Jr. She attended schools in Methuen, Mass., and graduated in 1959 from Tenney High School.

On Sept. 22,1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Albert H. Lerned. After more than 41 loving years of marriage, he died Jan. 5, 2004.

Mrs. Lerned was a registered nurse at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence, Mass., for more than 40 years. She retired in 2002 and relocated with her husband to Saco in 2003.

She was an avid gardener and spent hours tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved spending time with her cats.

Survivors include her daughter Tracie Lee Purcell and her longtime companion, Michael Gendreau, of Saco; two sisters, Norma Plante of Biddeford and Paula A. Howard and her husband, James E., of Middleton, N.H.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Thomas E. Reed

 

Thomas E. Reed, 70, of Saco, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

He was born Dec.  21, 1939, in Gorham to Thomas A. and Theodora Loignon Reed. He graduated from Biddeford High School in 1960.

Mr. Reed was employed as a meat cutter for 15 years by First National Supermarket. He later worked for Hannaford for 25 years and retired in 2005.

He enjoyed his flower and vegetable garden, making maple syrup and clamming. He was an avid sports fan who followed New York Yankee baseball and Buffalo Bill football.

Mr. Reed was a parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco.

He was preceded in death by his son, David “Oscar” Reed on Oct. 26, 2009, and his brother, Robert.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lucille Houde Reed of Saco; one daughter, Donna Reed Gordon and her husband, Christian, of Biddeford; one sister, Barbara Roberge of Greenland, N.H.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
