Paul D. Marchand Sr.
Paul D. Marchand Sr., 63, of Biddeford died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at his home after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 4, 1947, in Biddeford to Leo A. and Muriel T. Fortier Marchand. He graduated from Biddeford High School in 1967 and Southern Maine Technical College in South Portland in 1969 after completing a course in culinary arts.
He moved to Wellesley, Mass., where he worked 38 years as a chef and baker at Wellesley College. He retired to Maine in 2010 due to ill health. He also worked for many summers at Camp Wigwam in Harrison.
Mr. Marchand was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed playing pocket billiards, cards, cribbage and drag racing.
Survivors include his son, Paul D. Marchand Jr. of Hopkinton, Mass.; two daughters, Mignonne M. Murray and her husband, Matthew, of Hopkinton, Mass., and Desiree Marchand of Hopkinton, Mass.; five brothers, Richard A. Marchand and his wife, Donna, of Lyman, Donald L. Marchand and his wife, Yvonne, of Biddeford, David R. Marchand of Biddeford, Michael L. Marchand of Biddeford and Gary N. Marchand of Gray; one sister, Carol A. Hanna and her husband, Marc, of Arundel; one grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Urbain E. Desrochers
Urbain E. Desrochers, 98, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford after a long illness.
He was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Biddeford to Philippe and Marie Cote Desrochers and was educated in Biddeford schools.
On June 6, 1936, he married Yvonne M. Gadbois at St. Andre Church in Biddeford.
Mr. Desrochers worked more than 50 years at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Biddeford and retired in 1979. In retirement he worked part time at Ace Hardware in Saco.
He was a member of Biddeford Senior Citizens and St. Joseph Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years of Biddeford; one daughter, Dorothy Cote of Columbus, Ga.; three sons, Richard Desrochers and his wife, Lynn, of Saco, Robert Desrochers and his wife, Marguerite, of Saco and Dennis Desrochers and his wife, Wendy, of Pownal; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jean L. Veilleux
Jean L. Veilleux, 70, of Arundel, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born June 24, 1940, in Quebec, Canada, to Leopold and Julia (Berube) Veilleux. He attended schools in Quebec and moved to Biddeford in 1961.
On May 30, 1963, he married Jeanne R. Bisson at St. Andre Church in Biddeford.
He worked several years at Beaupre Gas and Electric and Pepperell Manufacturing before starting Veilleux Oil in 1968. In 1978 he opened the former Veilleux/Amico Service Station on Alfred Street in Biddeford. He retired in 2005 after almost 40 years in the oil delivery industry.
Mr. Veilleux was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford, a lifetime member of the Voltigeur Snowshoe Club in Biddeford and former member of the Eagles Club, Arundel. He enjoyed bicycle riding, playing horseshoes and especially visiting his family and friends in Canada.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Reine A. Veilleux.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Jeanne R. Veilleux of Arundel; two sons, Gilles Veilleux of Arundel and Roger Veilleux and his wife, Trish, of Biddeford; two daughters, Lucie Veilleux of Arundel and Marie Samson and her husband, Mark, of Auburn; five brothers, Paul, Jacque, Charles, Lucien and Gerard Veilleux; four sisters, Laurence, Ghisliane, Gilberte and Noellyne Veilleux, all of Canada; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Claude R. Hevey
Claude R. Hevey, 92, of Old Orchard Beach, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.
He was born April 1, 1918, in Biddeford to Arthur and Merilda (Brochu) Hevey. He attended St. Joseph School and was a graduate of the former St. Louis High School.
Mr. Hevey served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Nov. 11, 1940, he married Lena Petit at St. Joseph Church.
He was employed by the Saco/Lowell Shops, Maremont Corp. and Saco Defense for 44 years and retired in 1983.
Mr. Hevey was a member of St. Margaret and St. Maximilian Kolbe parishes. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and following professional sports on television.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Hevey, in 1996 and a son, Lionel Hevey, in 2004.
Survivors include his son, Andy Hevey and his wife, Michelle, of Orlando, Fla.; his daughter, Judy Cadorette and her husband, William, of Scarborough; his daughter-in-law Claire Hevey of Dayton; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Faith Janice Hogan
Faith Janice Hogan, 68, of Old Orchard Beach, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at her home in Old Orchard Beach, surrounded by her loving family after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.
Faye, as she was affectionately known, was born June 20, 1942, to Louis and Dorothy Leddy. After graduating from Old Orchard Beach High School in 1960, she married George Hogan Sr. and they were happily married for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Hogan will always be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Raising a family of sports fanatics had its effect on her. She grew to love sports and missed very few of her children’s games. Later in life, she cherished attending her grandchildren’s athletic events across the state.
She also touched the lives of many others. For the last 25 years she could be found behind the counter of Hogan’s Variety greeting, cooking and serving customers. Her infectious laugh and smile positively affected everyone she met.
Mrs. Hogan was defined by family and giving. She would rather give something needed to someone she didn’t know than keep it for herself.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, George Hogan Sr. of Old Orchard Beach; five children, George Hogan Jr. of Falmouth, Stuart Hogan of Old Orchard Beach, Wendy Blake of Old Orchard Beach, Danny Hogan of Old Orchard Beach and Mike Hogan of Pennsauken, N.J.; grandchildren, Jade Marcotte, Tom Blake, Joshua Hogan, Sarah Hogan, Erik Hogan, Ryun Hogan; great-grandchildren, Ian Blake and Ryder Blake; daughters-in-law, Chris Hogan and Sharon Hogan; brother Arthur Leddy of Scarborough; and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with her wishes, a private family service was held. Arrangements were by Old Orchard Beach Funeral Home.

Raymond R. Paquin
Raymond R. Paquin, 53, of Saco died unexpectedly at his home Monday, Jan. 3, 2011.
He was born Sept. 1, 1957, in Biddeford to Emilien C. and Rejeanne M. (Frechette) Paquin. He attended local schools and was a 1975 graduate of Thornton Academy in Saco.
Mr. Paquin was employed as a saw operator by Wood Structures in Saco for many years and was most recently employed by Palace Playland in Old Orchard Beach.
He enjoyed golfing and bowling and especially loved his pet dog and cats.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Conrad Paquin, in 1952.
Survivors include his father of Old Orchard Beach; his mother of Saco; his longtime companion, Cindi Hayes of Saco; six brothers, Leon Paquin of Biddeford, Paul Paquin of Saco, Michael Paquin and his wife, Donna, of Biddeford, Richard Paquin of Saco, Daniel Paquin and his wife, Kristine, of Saco and Normand Paquin of Shapleigh; four sisters, Angela Messer of Farmington, Lucille Beaupre and her husband, Michael, of Biddeford, Diane Harden of Virginia Beach, Va., and Denise Goodrich and her husband, Michael, of Waterboro; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arthur F. Hatch
Arthur F. Hatch, 66, of Brewer died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, as the result of a house fire.
He was born April 26, 1944, in Wells to Chester W. and Cecilia Hatch. He attended local schools.
Survivors include his son, Arthur F. Hatch of Biddeford; his daughter, Tina Rankin of Saco; his half-brother Robert Hatch and his wife, Ginny, of West Kennebunk; his half-sister, Lillian Hatch of Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Roger M. Leroux
The Rev. Roger M. Leroux, M.S., 84, a member of the Missionaries of Our Lady of LaSalette, Province of Mary, Mother of the Americas, died Saturday, Dec., 11, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Conn.
He was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Laconia, N.H., to the late Majoric and Philomene (Landry) Leroux. He attended LaSalette Seminary High School in Enfield, N.H., and in 1946 entered the LaSalette Novitiate in East Brewster, Mass.
He made First Profession of Vows on July 2, 1947, and Perpetual Profession on July 2, 1950. After completing studies in LaSalette seminaries in Enfield, N.H., and Attleboro, Mass., he was ordained to the priesthood on June 7, 1952, in Fall River, Mass., by Bishop James M. Connolly.
After ordination, the Rev. Leroux served as professor and prefect at LaSalette Seminary in Enfield. In 1961 he left for the Philippines, where he served as pastor and school director for five years. Returning to the states for studies, he then continued his ministry in education, formation and administration for the LaSalette community.
Over the years he played a significant role in the establishment of new LaSalette ministries. He was involved in programs of formation, education, LaSalette Associates, religious life, peace and justice, Marriage Encounter and chaplaincy for the Daughters of Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Littleton, N.H.
He ministered at the LaSalette Shrine in Enfield at various times over the years. Parish ministry was also part of his life. He served as associate pastor of Holy Rosary Parish in Windsor, Ontario, and at Our Lady of the Cape Parish in Brewster, Mass. He also served on the administrative level of his congregation as provincial councilor in the Philippines and in Attleboro.
Ten years ago Rev. Leroux was assigned to the LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, Mass., and in March of this year as his health continued to fail he was named to residency at Hartford House.
He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Leroux and a sister, Rita Boutin.
In addition to his LaSalette community, he is survived by his sisters, Lillian Gregoire of Laconia, N.H., and Dora Morel of Biddeford and several nieces and nephews.
