Jeanne S. LaPlante Dorais, 86, of Saco, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford.
She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Biddeford to Pierre and Aurore (Ballard) LaPlante. She was educated in Biddeford schools
Mrs. Dorais was employed by Pepperell Manufacturing and then Snow’s Canning for more than 20 years.
She was a very caring person who donated to several charities and will be remembered for care of her brother, Jerome LaPlante, before she died. She enjoyed going to yard sales during summer and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her two sons, Donald Dorais and his wife, Joyce, of Saco, and Ronald Dorais and his wife, Elaine, of Florida; her daughter-in-law, Paulette Dorais; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Warren E. Mason
The Rev. Warren E. Mason, 87, of Kennebunkport, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Evergreen Manor in Saco.
He was born July 10, 1923, in Worcester, Mass., to Raymond L. and Margaret Louise (Patterson) Mason. He attended elementary and high school in Worcester.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. Following his service he earned his bachelor’s degree from Bethel College and Seminary. He later earned his Master of Divinity degree in psychology and counseling from Covenant Seminary.
On May 20, 1978, he married Janice M. Benson in Portland.
The Rev. Mason was a parishioner of Good Shepherd’s Cove in Arundel.
He worked as a pastor for many new churches across the Northeast. His career started at Pilgrim Congregational Church in Plymouth, Pa., where he worked for four years. He went on to work for five years at St. John’s Church in Strykersville, N.Y. He then served at Wildwood Chapel in East Canton, Ohio, for four years, Carthage Union Congregational Church in Maine for two years, and Lebanon Congregational Church for the next two years. He finished his career as Pastor of Good Shepherd’s Cove Church when he retired in 2004.
He enjoyed watching professional sports games. He especially enjoyed the Celtics and Patriots. He also had many hobbies including doing puzzles, taking long drives, reading, gardening and walking the dog.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Mason, of Auburn, Mass.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Janice M. Mason; sister-in-law Dorothy Mason of Auburn, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary Lopez
Mary “Marilee” Lopez, 56, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Portland.
She was born Oct. 9, 1954, in Newton, Mass., to Edward and Phyllis (Burke) Bouzan. She was a Newton High School gradutate and attended Cape Cod Community College. She moved to this area in 1990.
On March 31, 1984, she married Jim Lopez at Sacred Heart Parish in Newton.
She was employed as a counselor and case manager by Sweetser Children’s Service and retired seven years ago due to illness.
Mrs. Lopez was a member of the Good Shepherd Parish and loved cooking and spending time at the beach.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Lopez of Biddeford; two sons, Nathan James Lopez of Sanford and Christopher Michael Gagnon Lopez of Biddeford; two sisters, Cynthia Fagan and her husband, James Waltz, of Biddeford and Laura Ann Bouzan and her husband, Gary Cichocki, of Orrington; and several nieces and nephews.

Madeline P. Hadiaris
Madeline P. Hadiaris, 90, of Saco, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at St. Andre Health Care Facility in Biddeford.
She was born May 21, 1920, in Rochester, N.H., to Chris Paul and Angela Kermegis Nikotianos. She spent many of her childhood years at the family’s restaurant, the Plaza, in Saco. She was educated at Thornton Academy in Saco.
She married her husband, Nicholas, on Sept. 22, 1940.
She was a homemaker who loved raising her family and later was employed for many years by Jordan Marsh in South Portland.
Mrs. Hadiaris was a talented cook and enjoyed painting and spending time at Bayview Beach with her family. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Last year she and her husband celebrated 70 years of marriage.
She was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saco and a St. Fotini Ladies Society.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angie.
Survivors include her husband, Nicholas K. Hadiaris of Saco; two sons, Charles N. Hadiaris and his wife, Elaine, of Sanford and Chris N. Hadiaris and his wife, Bonny, of Saco; three grandchildren several cousins and many other relatives.

George Beaupre
George Beaupre, 88, of Biddeford, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born May 8, 1922, in Biddeford to Arthur and Victoria Blais Beaupre. He was born blind, but surgery in Boston restored his sight and he was educated in Biddeford schools.
Mr. Beaupre worked many years at Diamond Match sawmills and later worked several years at Saco Tanning Corp. in Saco before his retirement.
He married his first wife, Lucille Houle, in 1948. She died June 2, 1978. On March 2, 1979, he married Jeannette M. Bellerose Ruel at St. Andre Church in Biddeford. She died on July 30, 2005. He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Roland, Edgar and Jean Paul Beaupre.
Mr. Beaupre was a member of Biddeford Senior Citizens. He enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, working in his vegetable garden, woodworking, working around the home he built with his wife Jeannette on Oak Ridge Road in Biddeford, and telling stories of his younger days.
Survivors include his son, Norman Beaupre and his wife, Anita, of East Waterboro; his stepdaughter and caregiver, Irene M. Gagne and her husband, Roger, of Biddeford; his sister-in-law, Ruth Beaupre of Portland; his friend Rita Lonsdale of Biddeford; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jeanne E. Blais
Jeanne E. Blais, 45, of Arundel, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at her residence.
She was born July 5, 1965, in Biddeford to Josephat and Rita Cote Blais. She graduated from Thornton Academy in Saco.
Miss Blais was employed as a CNA by Evergreen Manor in Saco for 12 years. She also worked for several years at Jack and Renee’s Restaurant in Arundel.
She was an avid reader and liked horror movies, enjoyed collecting stuffed animals and loved cats.
She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford.
She was preceded in death by her father, Josephat, and two brothers, Roger and Andre Blais.
Survivors include her mother, Rita Cote Blais; three brothers, Gerard Blais, Edward Blais and Francois Blais; three sisters, Denise Foster, Marie Thivierge and Bernadette Spulick; and several nieces and nephews.

Earl C. Kennedy
Earl C. Kennedy, 65, of Biddeford died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Matewan, W.Va., to Earl and Grace Murphy Kennedy. He was educated in Matewan schools.
He moved to Washington, D.C., where he met his future wife, Theresa R. Glass. They were married April 5, 1965, in Arlington, Va. In 1968 he moved with his family to Biddeford.
Mr. Kennedy worked 23 years at Saco Defense as a machinist and retired in 1992 due to ill health.
He was an active member of Southern Maine Church of Christ in Arundel. He was past president of East Biddeford Little League. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, his train hobby, computer games and summers at Moose Pond in Bridgton with his family.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Peggy Cisco, on Sept. 24, 2005.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years of Biddeford; three sons, Michael Kennedy and his wife, Roxanna, of South Portland, Steven Kennedy and his wife, Constance, of Windham and Jason Kennedy and his wife, Paula, of Sanford; and 11 grandchildren.

Doris R. Larose
Doris T. Larose, 77, of Biddeford died after a long illness Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at St. Andre Health Care Facility.
She was born June 19, 1933, in Biddeford to Emile and Laura L’Heureux Letourneau and was educated in Biddeford schools.
On April 19, 1952, she married Normand Larose at St. Andre Church in Biddeford. He died Dec. 16, 2000.
Mrs. Larose worked more than 14 years at Biddeford Textile Corp. and retired in 1992 due to ill health.
Survivors include one sister, Aline Levesque and her husband, Normand, of Clearwater, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

Therese M. Dumont-Belair
Therese M. Dumont-Belair, 83, of Biddeford, died after a long illness Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
She was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Biddeford to Charles and Marie Turcotte Drapeau. She was educated in Biddeford schools and was a 1945 graduate of the former St. Joseph High School in Biddeford.
On June 28, 1948, she married Alain Dumont Sr. at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. He died Aug. 10, 1968. On July 25, 1976, she married Jean L. Belair in Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. He died on Jan. 25, 2001.
Mrs. Dumont-Belair was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Biddeford Senior Citizens, Most Holy Trinity Church Ladies Crafts Group and Most Holy Trinity Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Saco.
She worked for several years as a seamstress. In 1974 she received her licensed practical nurse diploma from Southern Maine Vocational Technical School in South Portland. She worked more than 10 years at Webber Hospital and Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford. She and her husband wintered in Florida for 25 years, where she also worked in hospitals and nursing homes. She retired in 1997 before returning to this area in 2001.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, seamstress work, playing cards and Bingo, doing puzzles and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her son, Alain Dumont Jr., in 1972.
Survivors include three daughters, Germaine Roux and her husband, Edmond, of Westford, Mass., Marie Beaulieu and her husband, Roger, of Biddeford and Monique Tremblay and her husband, Ronald, of Saco; two stepsons, Norman Belair and his wife, Pam, of Portland and Robert Belair and his wife, Barbara, of Sugarhill, Ga.; two stepdaughters, Lorraine Hoctor and her husband, Mike, of Winter Park, Fla., and Joanne Gordon of Kissimmee, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Elidore O. St. Amand
Elidore O. “Whitey” St. Amand, 88, a longtime resident of Arundel, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, after a lengthy illness.
The sixth of seven children, he was born Sept. 4, 1922, in Hamlin to Thomas St. Amand and Alice Levesque.
He lived in Limestone until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He took great pride in his service as a radioman on the USS Ellyson, a destroyer that later was converted to a mine sweeper. His tour in the war took him from Europe, where his ship participated in the Invasion of Normandy, to Tokyo Bay for the signing of the treaty with Japan.
After the war he returned to Biddeford, where he opened a Five Points food stand and hired a local woman known for being a hard worker. Her name was Rachel Nadeau and in November 1948 they married, six months after meeting.
Job opportunities took Mr. St. Amand to Hartford, Conn., where he started and acquired different businesses of his own. In 1969 he and his wife moved their family back to Maine, where they purchased Ten Acres Cabins and Campground and relocated their Atlantic Exterminating Co., which is still headquartered in southern Maine.
Mr. St. Amand retired in 1984 and spent summers running the cabins and campground with his wife. He also became a fixture at town meetings and at town hall, and served as Arundel’s constable for more than 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2007.
Survivors include his daughters, Dora St. Amand of Beauceville, Quebec, Diana Sainte of Cape Elizabeth and Debra St. Amand of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; his sons, Thomas St. Amand of Arundel and Theodore St. Amand and his wife, Lori, of Arundel; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Steven St. Armand of Virginia.

Muriel M. Belanger
Muriel M. Mathurin Belanger 83, died in the presence of her family and friends Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011. She was born Oct. 25, 1927, in Biddeford to Louis and Delvina (Cloutier) Mathurin. She attended Biddeford public cchools.
In September 1946 she married Leo Paul E. Belanger, and together they raised four children.
Throughout most of her working life she was employed by West Point Pepperell and retired n February 1987.
For the past 20 years she and her partner, Roland Bouthillette, enjoyed summers on the beach, dancing and sharing their life together.
Her passion was music. She enjoyed playing the organ on a daily basis and loved dancing, starting as as a young child tap dancing on the Old Orchard Beach Pier. She enjoyed meeting her friends at Burger King and having many discussions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Paul, in 1987 and her sister, Rita Hight, in 2009.
Survivors include one son, Rodney, and his and wife, Priscille, of Windham; three daughters, Michelle Mondor and husband, Donald, Donna Dion and husband, Michael, and Sandra LaBranche and husband, Roger, all of Biddeford; seven grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

Gabrielle Michaud
Gabrielle Michaud, 82, of Biddeford, died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011 at her home.
She was born Jan. 24, 1929 in Biddeford to Louis and Alice Morrissette Shaban and was educated at St. Andre School.
On April 24, 1948, she married Gordon Michaud at St. Andre Church in Biddeford.
She worked at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. and Kennebunk and Kesslen shoe shops and retired in the mid-1970s.
She was a lifelong member of St. Andre Church and also belonged to the Veterans Alliance of York County.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Napoleon James, in 1964 and by Gordon, her husband of 52 years, in 2000.
Survivors include her son, Gordon Michaud Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Las Vegas, Nev.; her daughter, Patricia Vaughn and her husband, Charles, of Virginia Beach, Va.; her grandson and several nieces and nephews.
