Claire Hayes

 

Claire Hayes, 67, of Biddeford, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Southridge Rehabilitation and Living Center in Biddeford with her family by her side.

She was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Biddeford to Aurelle and Florida (Bineau) Ouellette Sr. She attended local schools.

Mrs. Hayes last worked at Morningstar in Kennebunk for many years before she retired in 1983. She previously worked several years at Snow’s fish factory and several hotels in Old Orchard Beach.

She loved music and would go out dancing any time she could. She also enjoyed bowling and was a pool and billiards enthusiast.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jeffery, James and Joseph Ouellette.

Survivors include one daughter, Catherine Taylor of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Steven Hayes and his wife, Lisa, of Biddeford and James Hayes Jr. of Orange City, Fla.; one brother, Aurelle M. Ouellette Jr. of Lisbon; three sisters, Rita R. Rondeau of Old Orchard Beach, Carol Couture of Gorham and Linda Gregoire of Saco; two half-sisters, Jacqueline Fournier of South Pasadena, Fla., and Arlene Wolke of Gulfport, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Lucienne B. Martin

 

Lucienne B. Martin, 79, of Biddeford, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born July 4, 1931, in Biddeford to Gaston and Aldea (Fontaine) Borduas. She was a 1948 graduate of the former St. Andre High School and attended St. Joseph’s College for two years.

She married Norman A. Martin in 1953 at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. He died Sept. 26, 1994, after 41 years of marriage.

Mrs. Martin was a homemaker for many years. After raising her family, she taught at the former St. Andre School. She received her Realtor license in 1976 and worked at Peterson Real Estate and Prudential Prime Properties until her retirement in 2005 at age 74.

She was a former communicant of St. Mary, St. Andre and St. Joseph churches, all of Biddeford. She was a member of St. Andre Parish Council, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, and a member of the Maine Realtors Association. She enjoyed reading and playing piano.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Joseph Schwan.

Survivors include her daughters, Jane Martin Begin and her husband, Richard, of Portland and Marilyn E. Martin-Schwan of Belmont, N.C.; one son, David Martin of Biddeford; one sister, Madeline Borduas of Biddeford; and one granddaughter.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

James A. Seavey

 

James A. “Jim” Seavey, 67, of Biddeford, died Saturday, March 19, 2011, of complications from cancer, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 1, 1944, to Charles and Helen Seavey of Rockland. He graduated from Rockland High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962.

Mr. Seavey served in the army for five years, part of which was spent in Wolfgang, West Germany, where he met his wife of 45 years, Barbara Schickling Seavey.

He went into the bank and finance industry after leaving the army and soon discovered his best skill and passion was working with his hands. He was a master electrician and for the past 15 years was head of maintenance for the marine biology department at the University of New England in Biddeford. 

Mr. Seavey was an avid deer hunter who enjoying life at the hunting camp with family and lifelong friends, Jimmy and Stevie Lombardo.

 He loved the outdoors whether it was playing golf, attending various sporting events for his children or grandchildren or tending his yard. 

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Schickling Seavey of Biddeford; his sons, James Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Westbrook, Jason and his wife, Pamela, of Saco and John and his wife, Sheresa, of Dayton; two sisters, Marilyn Sewall of Merritt Island, Fla., and Karen Harrington and her husband, Robert, of South Berwick; six grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Daniel J. Reardon

 

Daniel J. Reardon, 89, of Saco, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

He was born Nov. 17, 1921, in Biddeford to Walter and Winnifred (Murphy) Reardon. He was educated at St. Mary School and Biddeford High School, where he excelled at basketball and baseball. He also attended Gray’s Business School in Portland.

Mr. Reardon served in the U.S. Army 38th Infantry during World War II and received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in the Philippines. 

On Nov. 11, 1952, he married Beatrice Poirier at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco.

He was employed by the Boston & Maine Railroad for 10 years and then at Maine State Liquor stores for 20 years. He was last employed as a courier by International Marketing and retired in 1989.

Mr. Reardon was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and was a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He enjoyed following Biddeford High School sports and was a fan of all local high school athletics.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert J. Reardon, in 1958.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Beatrice Poirier Reardon of Saco; one son, Barry Reardon and his wife, Marion Fields, of Old Orchard Beach; one daughter, Karen Reardon of Saco; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Marcia Golebiewski

 

Marcia Golebiewski, 61, of Biddeford, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice in Scarborough.

She was born March 4, 1950, in New Britain, Conn., to John and Florence (Toczko) Blogolawski and was educated there. She was a 1968 graduate of New Britain High School and then attended E.C. Goodwin Technical School in New Britain, where she received her diploma as a licensed practical nurse.

On April 17, 1968, she married Thaddeus Golebiewski in New Britain.

Before moving to this area in 1991, Mrs. Golebiewski was employed as a licensed practical nurse at the New Britain General Hospital emergency room for 10 years and for the past 19 years was employed by American Red Cross Blood Services in Portland.

She enjoyed reading, spending time at the beach and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Thaddeus Golebiewski of Biddeford; one son, Thaddeus Golebiewski III and his wife, Valerie, of Newington, Conn.; one daughter, Jennifer Golebiewski of New Britain; one sister, Stephanie Cantor of Westbrook, Conn.; and six grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Donald Chaloult

 

Donald Chaloult, 65, of Biddeford, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born Dec. 22, 1945, in Biddeford, to Euclid and Anita (Ouellette) Chaloult.  Mr. Chaloult was a St. Louis High School graduate and attended barber school in Lewiston. He served in the National Guard for 13 years.

On Oct. 8, 1977, he married Diane Small in Biddeford.

He was employed as a truck driver most of his life and most recently worked at International Baking Co. for 10 years. He retired in 2006. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling to casinos.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Chaloult of Biddeford; three sons, Kim Chaloult and his companion, Genevieve Chaloult, of Oxford, Scott Chaloult and his wife, Melissa, of Tarboro, Ga., and Lawrence Wing and his companion, Anita Hall, of Biddeford; two daughters, Bonnie Chaloult of Saco and Melissa Chaloult of Biddeford; three brothers, Raymond Chaloult and his wife, Anita, of Biddeford, Angelo Chaloult and his wife, Rosemary, of Gulfport, Miss., and Donald Laflamme and his wife, Janice, of Kennebunkport; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Theresa L. Ledoux

 

Theresa L. Ledoux, 83, of Saco, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born April 8, 1927, in Biddeford to William and Victoria Martin Cote. She was educated a St. Joseph School in Biddeford.

She was employed for seven years by Lee’s Pastry in Saco and also worked at Maremont Corp. and Saco Tanning for several years. She retired in 1991 from Waterbury Co. in Biddeford.

Mrs. Ledoux liked to dance, play cards and beano. She was an avid reader and  loved to spend time with her family,.

She was a parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Good Shepherd Parish.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Henry L. Ledoux of Saco; two sons, Denis Ledoux and his wife, Deborah, of Saco and Jody Ledoux and his wife, Kim, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Vickie Frechette and her husband, Arthur, of Waynesboro, Pa.; three brothers, Dolor Cote of Frankfort, N.Y., Ralph Cote of Lyman and Fernand Cote of Biddeford; two sisters, Yvette Dallaire of Old Orchard Beach and Anita Beaudoin of Biddeford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.

 

Vern A. Barber

 

Vern A. Barber, 86, of Saco, died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Maine Medical Center in Portland after a brief illness. 

He was born April 4, 1924, in Webb City, Okla., one of 10 children of Vella Viola (Gehring) and Newton Tolliver Barber.

Mr. Barber met his future wife, Anna Belle McNutt, while attending Wetumka High School.  After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served in the Pacific during World War II.

When he returned to Oklahoma he received a degree in mathematics. He worked in retail sales management in the automotive industry at OTASCO, grocery field at Nu-Way and TG&Y department store in Oklahoma.

After retiring Mr. Barber and his wife moved to Saco to be near their two sons. He was active at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Saco and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed walking, watching any sport activity and chocolate.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Belle (McNutt) Barber; sisters, Attia, Omma, Garnett and Norene; and brothers, Robert, Denver, Earl and Roy.

Survivors include his brother Paul Barber of Raleigh, N.C.; his children, Gene A. Barber of Saco and David M. and Debbie S. (Hall) Barber of Cranston, R.I.; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Cote Funeral Home, Saco.
