Lina L. Roy
Lina L. Roy, 91, of Biddeford died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at Southridge Living Center in Biddeford.
She was born May 18, 1920, in Biddeford to Armand and Annabelle Lariviere Morin and was educated in Biddeford schools.
On May 26, 1945, she married Roger P. Roy in Saco. He died Jan. 30, 2004.
Mrs. Roy worked 25 years at Bates Manufacturing Co. in Saco and 10 years at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Biddeford. She also worked 10 years at Fairchild in South Portland and retired in 1982.
She enjoyed knitting and bowling.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gerald A. Roy, on Sept. 25, 2001, and her daughter-in-law, Danielle D. Roy, on March 1, 2011.
Survivors include two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Gabrielle Cronkhite
Gabrielle Cronkhite, 103, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011.
She was born Jan. 16, 1908, in Biddeford to Joseph and Caroline (Brazeau) Auger.
After attending local schools, she graduated from the Portland School of Beauty Culture in 1926 and attended the Charles of the Ritz Advanced School of Hair Design.
She and her brother, Anthime Auger, operated Gabrielle’s Beauty Salons in Biddeford, Sanford, Portland, Lewiston and Bath. She was the first woman beautician in Maine as well as the first to give a permanent wave. She was in business 51 years.
She also volunteered to give women finger waves at the Marcotte Home and to shut-ins. In addition, she opened a salon in her home to serve women who couldn’t easily get downtown.
She was married Oct. 21, 1935, at St. Andre Church in Biddeford to Roland Cronkhite of Lewiston. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in October 1995. They lived on Webster Street in Lewiston and belonged to Holy Family Parish, where she was an honorary member of the Society of Ladies of St. Ann.
They summered throughout their working years at Hills Beach in Biddeford, where they later retired.
Mrs. Cronkhite canned more than 400 quarts of vegetables and fruit every fall for her family. She was a strong supporter of her sons’ and husband’s Boy Scout activities and a devout Catholic.
Until this year she still did light housework and voted. She was also an active supporter of local community associations where she resided, including as a charter member of both the Hills Beach Association and Hills Beach Volunteer Fire and Rescue Unit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland Sr.; three sisters, Yvonne Auger, Blanche Parenteau and Marie-Jeanne Hughes-St. Jean; and four brothers, Aime, Anthime, Armand and Paul.
Survivors include four sons, Dr. Roland Jr. and his wife, Jeannine, of Biddeford and Bradenton, Fla., Richard and his wife, Rachelle, of Lewiston, Roger of Westminster, Md., and Raymond of Biddeford; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Hazel Farley of Hartford, Conn.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lorraine L. Lemelin
Lorraine L. Lemelin, 90, of Saco, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, at her home.
She was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Dover, N.H., to Theodule J. and Eva M. Dagenais Fortier. She was educated in Dover schools.
Mrs. Lemelin was employed by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard during World War II.
She married her husband, Leo, on Jan. 5, 1946.
After raising their children, she and her husband developed Lemelin Enterprises, which consisted of Bell Tourist Home in Saco, a laundry in Portland, Lemelin Nursing Home and the Half Way Cash Market in Old Orchard Beach.
She was caregiver for her husband for 35 years while she managed rental properties. Most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Lemelin was a parishioner of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Saco.
She was predeceased by Leo Lemelin, her husband of 59 years, on July 3, 2005; one brother, Raymond Fortier; and one sister, Rita B. Lowrey.
Survivors include two daughters, Leona L. Lemelin of Saco, with whom she resided, and Marlene Jolin and her husband, Paul, of Saco; one brother, Roger Fortier and his wife, Mary, of Dover, N.H.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Laurier Cote Jr.
Laurier “Larry” Cote Jr., 61, of Biddeford, died unexpectedly Thursday, Aug. 4, 2011, at Southern Maine Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 20, 1950, in Biddeford to Laurier L. and Theresa (Cantara) Cote Sr. and was educated in local schools.
On March 20, 2010, he married Carol Harriman in Biddeford.
Mr. Cote worked as a truck driver in Montana for 20 years. When he returned to Biddeford he worked for 15 years at Biddeford Center of Technology.
He was a member of the Veterans Alliance in Biddeford and AMVETS and was an avid Red Sox fan.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Cote of Biddeford; his mother, Theresa Cote of Biddeford; one son, Shawn Cote and his wife, Anna, of Billings, Mont.; two daughters, Alicia Cote of Surprise, Ariz., and Delina Cote of Seattle, Wash.; one stepdaughter, Beth Pelletier and her husband, William, of Biddeford; two stepsons, Kenneth Pelletier of Kennebunk and Raymond Pelletier of Portland; two brothers, Gerald Cote and his wife, Robin, of Portland and Lucien Cote and his wife, Grace, of Biddeford; five sisters, Claudette Cloutier, Diane Wong and her husband, George, Diana Kane and Rachel Cote, all of Biddeford, and Theresa Waterhouse and her husband, Louis, of Dayton; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Irene A. Nolette
Irene A. Nolette, 83, of Biddeford died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Somersworth, N.H., to Joseph O. and Bertha R. St. Jean Morin and was educated in Somersworth and Biddeford schools.
On Feb. 15, 1946, she married Joseph Renald Nolette at St. Joseph Church. He died Nov. 26, 1993.
Mrs. Nolette worked 35 years at Pepperell Manufacturing Co. and West Point Pepperell Co. in Biddeford. She retired in 1990.
She was a member of Biddeford Senior Citizens and St. Joseph Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford. She enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include two sons, Richard R. Nolette of Biddeford and Mark W. Nolette of Lyman; two daughters, Pauline Morin of Saco and Dolores Joyce Goulet and her husband, John, of Orlando, Fla.; one brothers, Wilfrid Morin of South Carolina; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jacqueline Croteau
Jacqueline Croteau, 89, of Biddeford, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 21, 1921, in Biddeford to Adelard and Lumina (Tardif) Tanguay and was educated locally.
On Sept. 28, 1940, she married Renald L.P. Croteau at St. Andre Church in Biddeford. He died in 1996.
Mrs. Croteau was homemaker most of her life, but worked briefly at Nike and Bruce Shoe companies.
She was a longtime member of St. Andre Church of the Good Shepherd Parish in Biddeford.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Croteau was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Renald M. Croteau and his wife, Tamara, of Old Orchard Beach and Donald N. Croteau of Saco; one daughter, Diane M. Gagnon and her longtime companion, Ray Guimond of Biddeford; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Gloria Dubois of Biddeford.

Pauline T. Tremblay
Pauline Theresa Tremblay, 86, of Biddeford, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Seal Rock Healthcare in Saco.
She was born April 6, 1925, in Biddeford to the late Albert and Marie (Levesque) Ouellette and was educated at St. Joseph School.
She was employed for many years as a weaver by Bates Manufacturing and later for Fiber Material Inc. until her retirement in 1994.
Mrs. Tremblay enjoyed cooking, bowling, playing pachisi and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond W. Tremblay, who died in 1968; and sisters Cecile Gadbois, Yvonne Gagne, Anita Ouellette and Emile Ouellette.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Tremblay, Dennis Tremblay and his wife, Yvette, and Guy Tremblay; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
