Scott M. Grenier

 

Scott M. Grenier, 41, of Biddeford died on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Maine Medical Center in Portland after being ill with leukemia.

He was born April 17, 1970, in Palo Alto, Calif., to Steven M. and Jacqueline B. (Lachance) Grenier.  He graduated from Prospect High School in San Jose, Calif. He moved to Biddeford in September 1998.

He was employed as a plumber by SPB Plumbing in Saco for three years and then at Pillsbury Plumbing and heating until his illness forced him to retire in 2005.

He was an avid sports fan and especially loved baseball. He also loved camping.

He was preceded in death by both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Survivors include his parents, Steven and Jacqueline Grenier of Biddeford; his son, Steven Michael Grenier II  of Cupertino, Calif.; his sister Stephanie Grenier and her longtime companion, David Grijalva, of Merced, Calif.; two nieces and several aunts and uncles.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.

 

Robert L. Lapoint Sr.

 

Robert L. Lapoint Sr., 73, of Old Orchard Beach, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at his home.

He was born April 26, 1938, in Old Orchard Beach to John and Louise (Adam) Lapoint.  He attended local schools.

On April 28, 1956, he married Rita J. Giroux at St. Andre Church in Biddeford. 

Mr. Lapoint started his career at Pepperell Manufacturing in Biddeford.  He went on to work at Saco Defense and later started his career as a carpenter with Plante Construction Co. He helped build Biddeford High School and many other area schools. Following his career with Plant Construction he worked for Cimino Construction and helped build such structures as the Cliff House in Ogunquit, condominiums in Old Orchard Beach and the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland. He retired in the early 1990s.

He was a former member of the Saco-Biddeford Elks Lodge 1597, AMVETS, Biddeford Eagles Club and Good Sam Camping Club, Chapter 15, Southern Maine Settlers.

He enjoyed camping and going to Scarborough Downs. He loved sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and New York Giants.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Priscilla Gagnon, in 1988; three sisters, Josephine Lapoint, Mary Gagne and Irene Braswell; a brother, John Lapoint; and half-brother, Everett Spaulding.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rita Lapoint of Old Orchard Beach; four daughters, Irene LaPrise of Lynnfield, Mass., Joan Roberge and her husband, Wayne, of Hollis, Peggy Boucher and her husband, Paul, of Lyman and Penny Brackett and her husband, Bob, of Scarborough; three sons, Robert Lapoint Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Alfred, Richard Lapoint of Lyman and Marc William of Lyman; one brother, Billy Lapoint of Biddeford; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Hope Memorial Chapel, Biddeford.
