Let’s talk 2011 election results.
This week’s edition was the last week for political letters to the editor. Space was tight and I tried to fit as many as I could. If you didn’t see your letter, find it at www.mainelymediallc.com and blog.inthecourier.com.
You can also find the Things to Do calendar online. A partial calendar is on page 39. I weighed whether to keep the calendar or print political letters. Letters won.
Due to a tight deadline around Veterans Day, the Courier won’t feature election results in its Nov. 10 issue. We’re usually able to hold a few pages since we go to press earlier in the day every Tuesday, but that’s not the case this year.
That means we’ll update readers the best way a weekly newspaper can, which for us, means Facebook. I’ll be at the WonderBar awaiting election results. I bet it will make good fodder for a column.
On a less serious note, zombies seem to be what’s hot for Halloween this year. The premier of season two of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” just started and everyone’s got the fever.
I consider myself somewhat of a zombie aficionado – I won’t say I’m as seasoned on the subject as Robert from Three D’s, but I’ve enjoyed my share of “dead” movies. Something about those movies has always nagged at me, though. Why don’t animals turn into zombies?
If they did, the possibilities could be endless. While I don’t know why some of the more popular zombie flicks don’t incorporate that idea, I kind of like that they don’t.
I like to think of animals an innocents. I like to think their souls are too good and free of sin, which is why they’re immune to the undead.
